ABOUT THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
Most of us have developed ways of moving through the activities of our daily lives that interfere with the body’s natural design. We strain our necks and eyes at our computers. We collapse our chests and hunch our shoulders. We protect injured parts of the body by creating additional strain in other areas. We rush through the tasks of the day with little awareness of ourselves and our surroundings. These habits have become unconsciously fixed in the body and often lead to physical discomfort or pain, compromising our ability to perform at our best and enjoy the breadth of our own lives.
The Alexander Technique is a way of “unlearning” these habits. At each lesson you deepen your awareness and understanding of your own body, identifying habits of movement, developing practical understanding of basic postural support and body mechanics. I provide hands on guidance, gently directing the body into a more balanced and coordinated state, as you learn a thoughtful process that allows you to release patterns of tension and misalignment.
As the neuromuscular system becomes integrated and breath and coordination are recovered, there is often relief from discomfort and a renewed sense of presence and freedom, lightness and ease.
Individual Lessons are 45 minutes in length and cost $75.00.
Pricing flexibility is available.
